ChatGPT Ads specialists who treat it like a sales channel.

ChatGPT Ads are new, but the job is the one our PPC team has done on every platform since 2011: find the moments your customers are ready to buy and be there with the right offer. Our analysts choose the topics and conversations worth appearing in, narrow them by location and your own customer audiences, and write placements that answer the question the buyer is asking, with a landing page that matches the message. The OpenAI Pixel and Conversions API count every purchase and lead, and we test with a budget sized to prove the channel before scaling it. ChatGPT runs as part of one plan with your Google, Microsoft and paid social campaigns, and your Client Hub shows them side by side, with spend, leads and cost per lead in plain language.

What ChatGPT Ads cost in the accounts we run.

Our own ChatGPT Ads and our clients’, compared with the same advertiser’s Google Ads on the same days, from each account’s launch in summer 2026 to late September.

  • 36%lower cost per click on SmartSites’ own ChatGPT Ads than on our Google AdsOur own accounts · June to September 2026
  • 29%lower median cost per click on ChatGPT Ads than on the same advertiser’s Google AdsAccounts running both · same days · September 2026
  • 28%median drop in ChatGPT Ads cost per click from an account’s first month to SeptemberSame accounts · launch month to September 2026

Results vary by account: in September, ChatGPT Ads clicks cost from about half to about twice as much as the same advertiser’s Google Ads clicks. Click-through rates run lower than on search, under 1% in most accounts, and OpenAI Pixel conversion tracking is new, so we judge the channel on cost per click and on the leads and sales each client’s own tracking confirms.

Everything your ChatGPT Ads need, handled by one team.

From the first topic to the last sale, every part of your ChatGPT advertising is covered, and every result is tracked next to your other ads in your Client Hub.

Sponsored placements

OpenAI reports more than 900 million people use ChatGPT every week, and more buying decisions now start in a chat window. A sponsored placement puts your business next to the answer when someone asks for the best product or provider, clearly labelled and kept separate from what ChatGPT says. We plan and manage the placements, offer, budget and bidding in OpenAI’s Ads Manager.

Questions to ask a ChatGPT Ads agency

Sponsored placements shown in ChatGPT when people ask about something relevant to your business. They are clearly labeled and kept separate from ChatGPT’s answers, and OpenAI states that advertising does not influence what ChatGPT says.

Ads are shown to people on ChatGPT’s Free and Go plans; the Plus, Pro and Enterprise plans are ad-free. ChatGPT Ads started in the U.S. and OpenAI has since opened them in more countries, including 31 European markets.

Early is the reason to test it. Fewer advertisers compete for the same placements today, and what you learn about which topics convert carries over as the channel grows. We start with a test budget and scale only what works.

We set up the OpenAI Pixel and Conversions API next to your analytics, so each lead, sale or sign-up is tied back to the campaign that brought it in, and report it alongside your other paid channels.

On Google, intent shows up as a keyword; on ChatGPT, it shows up as a question with context, so the topics, offers and landing pages are built differently. In the accounts we run on both, a ChatGPT Ads click cost a median 29% less than a Google Ads click in September 2026, though click-through rates are lower than on search. We manage both and keep them working together.

We recommend a test budget on your strategy call, sized to your goals and large enough to prove the channel without wasted spend.
