From the first late-night search for “how to get back in shape” to the moment she books a free trial session, SmartSites makes sure she finds you, trusts you, and chooses you.

She’s ready to get stronger but unsure where to start, so she asks “is a personal trainer worth it for beginners?” Showing up in search and AI answers puts your coaches in the conversation early.

That evening she scrolls past a client’s progress story and a quick form tip from your head coach. By the time she clicks, your studio already feels familiar.

After the trial, a welcome series with her first workouts lands, then a text when she misses a week. Three months later she's renewing, and bringing a friend.

It depends on your market, how many locations you run and which services you need. A single-location studio usually starts with local SEO and Google Ads for free trials; a certification school or online program may lean harder on paid search and email.
We’ll right-size a plan to your goals and tell you exactly where each dollar goes, with no add-ons you don’t need.
Very. At the typical healthcare organization in the calls we've listened to, 34% (about 1 in 3) of calls went to voicemail or were never picked up: 28% during business hours and 51% after hours. And most of those callers do not try again: 73% of callers who reached voicemail did not call that business again within a week.
That is why we track every call from your campaigns, flag missed calls, and help you set up call routing, after-hours coverage and fast call-backs, so the leads you pay for are not lost at the front desk.
Based on calls to 26 healthcare organizations we market, Apr to Sep 2026.
We classified a sample of 288 new-customer calls to the healthcare organizations we market by what the caller wanted (all healthcare, not only fitness businesses). The most common reasons to call were booking an appointment or checking availability (40%), whether a specific service is offered (12%) and price or a quote (7%).
Typical questions: “Can I schedule an appointment?”, “Do you offer this specific treatment or service?”, “How much does this cost?”. Your website, ads and Google Business Profile should answer these before the phone rings, and your team should be ready to answer them when it does.
Based on calls to SmartSites clients, Apr to Sep 2026; questions paraphrased, no caller or client identified.
Mostly business hours: 20% of calls came outside Monday to Friday 9 to 5 (4% on weekends), and the busiest day is Monday. Of the calls that were answered, 45% were new-customer inquiries, 40% were existing customers, and 17% were sales pitches or wrong numbers.
That mix is why we report on qualified calls, not raw call counts.
Based on 39,000 calls to 53 healthcare organizations we market, Oct 2025 to Sep 2026 (timing) and Apr to Sep 2026 (call types).
Across the Google Ads accounts of the 49 healthcare organizations we manage, the median cost per lead over the last 12 months was $90, with a median cost per click of $5.40 and a median conversion rate of 6%.
Your number depends on your market, services and how well the landing page and phones convert. We use these medians as a starting benchmark, then work to beat them.

For the 55 healthcare organizations whose Google Business Profiles we manage, the median profile got about 910 views, 34 calls and 66 direction requests a month over the last year.
Reviews, photos, accurate hours and categories move those numbers, which is why local SEO is part of every plan we build for a fitness business.

Paid search usually brings in trial sign-ups and consultation requests within the first month, while SEO builds over several months and keeps compounding. Our fitness case studies include conversion rate up 1,590% and cost per lead improved 82% (National Personal Training Institute of Florida), leads up 200% (Elite Training San Diego) and leads up 100% (Reformer Fitness Studio).
For most local fitness businesses the core mix is:
Many gyms lose people between the first visit and the first bill. We build landing pages with one clear offer, connect forms to your booking tool, and set up automated email and SMS follow-up: a welcome message, a reminder before the first session, a check-in after it and a membership offer while motivation is high. Then we report on how many trials actually convert, not just how many signed up.
Yes. Not every fitness business is a neighborhood gym. We run national lead generation for trainer certification schools and fitness retreats, and social programs for online coaching brands. Premier Fitness Camp grew leads 51%, and Workouts by ZZ saw 9.9x content engagements. The channels change with the audience, but the focus on cost per enrollment stays the same.
Yes. We optimize for generative engines (GEO) as well as traditional search, so your gym, studio or training business shows up in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and the AI assistants people now ask for workout advice and local recommendations. We monitor how AI tools mention your gym or studio, alongside rankings.
Fitness is visual and personal, so short-form video wins. We recommend one or two produced reels per week (form tips, client wins shared with permission, coach and class spotlights), steady story activity that shows your community, and targeted paid social offering a free class or consultation. We handle planning, production, posting and reporting, and tie paid social back to trial sign-ups.
One in-house marketer can’t film reels, run ads and manage SEO all at once. You get a strategist and specialists for SEO, ads, web, email and social for less than the cost of one hire. A human strategist reviews every output, you own all the work, and we’ve been doing this since 2011.
